My design journey...

My love for design began with my discovery of visual branding systems. I became fascinated with branded experiences and the process of translating a consistent, cohesive "feeling" across different mediums. Shortly after, I found myself studying visual communication design at the University of Washington and planned to work at a branding agency upon graduating.

However, my plan completely changed when I came across this keynote: Designing Fluid Interfaces by Apple. This keynote absolutely blew me away. It introduced me to the world of designing for software and the power that digital experiences have in empowering our lives. But, it didn't feel completely unfamiliar. I learned that good software design still follows the same principles I learned from my visual design studies; it just utilizes a different medium.

I realized the principles of quality design aren't confined to a singular discipline; instead, they can be applied to create any quality system that addresses a variety of problems. That's when I started to understand the true potential of design, especially when applied to a fluid medium like software. Next thing I knew, I was working as a product designer and have been immersed in the field ever since.

Through my experience designing across different mediums, I have found designing for software to be my favorite and main focus. The versatility of software design and its ability to drive meaningful change in a short amount of time has solidified my love for creating scalable digital product experiences that impact businesses and reach thousands of users.
